Hungarys Andras Balczo finishes the final event, the 4, 000 metre cross-country run, in the Olympiastadion, Munich, West Germany.
At the 1972 Games Balczo won the individual gold medal and a silver for Hungary in the team competition. Previously he had won an individual silver and team gold at the 1968 Games in Mexico City, and a team silver at the 1960 Rome Games, making him one of the most successful athletes in the history of modern pentathlon
