Grewal was the first American to win an Olympic gold medal in road cycling, however his mere participation in the race was controversial.
He had tested positive for a stimulant only 10 days before the Olympics and was suspended for 30 days by the US Cycling Federation and dropped from the Olympic team. However he appealed the suspension, noting that the tests were not sophisticated enough to tell the difference between the drug he had tested positive for and the albuterol he took for asthma. Reinstated, he was able to race at Los Angeles.
The US team won a record nine Olympic cycling medals, including four golds, at the 1984 Games, although it was later revealed that a third of their cyclists had received team-sanctioned blood transfusions. The practice was not made illegal by the IOC until 1985, although a test was not devised to detect it until years later.

Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
