Fencing - 1992 Barcelona Olympics - Men's Epee Team, Semi-Final: Unified Team vs. West Germany
Pavel Kolobkov (Unified Team) vs. Arnd Schmitt (West Germany)
Kolobkov (#83) at the Palace of Metallurgy.
'Unified Team' was the name used for the sports team of the former Soviet Union/Russia (except the Baltic states).
Kolobkov was appointed Russian Minister of Sport in October 2016. His predecessor Vitaly Mutko had been implicated in the state-sponsored doping detailed in the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) Independent Commission. Kolobkov himself, as Deputy Sports Minister, had been barred from Wada's Foundation Board due to Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) being declared non-compliant with the WADA code.
